Job description

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

This is a project based, part time as needed (PTAN) role.

Arcadis is seeking entry-level Archaeologists to support environmental planning projects (e.g. linear infrastructure projects) within Ohio and surrounding states. In this role, you will conduct archaeological field work for multiple projects and at all levels of investigation, from site identification to data recovery, and archaeological monitoring. You will work on projects that require shovel testing, pedestrian surveys, excavation, and site documentation. This role is currently a part-time as needed field position.

This position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with the Arcadis cultural resources team. Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. However, this position will be a field position, so the successful candidate can expect to work remotely at the project site location, as needed. The ability to travel to various project sites, including overnight travel, will be required (field work expectations are approximately 90 to 100%).

Role accountabilities:

As an Archaeologist, you will apply your technical knowledge to support archaeological services over a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, mining, rail and transit, and renewable energies. You will be a key cultural resources team member and work as part of an interdisciplinary environmental team. You will be responsible for conducting archaeological fieldwork.

This will require a working knowledge of GPS systems and the ability to walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, as well as carry supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. This will also require working in the field under a range of conditions (e.g., rugged and unfamiliar terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in anthropology/archaeology
  • 1-2 years of experience in cultural resources management.
  • Demonstrated practical field experience within Ohio or surrounding states.
  • Working knowledge of GPS systems and the collection of field data.

Why Arcadis?
