Job description

Job Title: Crew Leader - Arbor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: The Arbor Crew Leader is responsible for leading an Arbor crew to complete various projects within the Arbor line of business. The Crew Leader is responsible for promoting jobsite safety, completing arbor projects with great precision and efficiency, providing excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship. This is a full-time year-round position. Work is performed under general supervision of the Arbor Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
  • Lead and assist with training crew members to ensure proper procedures, processes and quality of work are followed to achieve company quality standards
  • Ability to read and comprehend daily work orders for crews
  • Determine when to start and stop work dependent on inclement weather conditions
  • Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work
  • Assist with keeping accurate records, timesheets and reports related to the performance of the crew
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feeds brush into a woodchipper
  • Be knowledgeable and relay industry related hand-signals to communicate effectively with crew and traffic
  • Repair slight damage to lawns, fences, and walks due to property damage on site
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Maintain work vehicle and tools to be clean, organized, and operational condition on a daily basis
  • Work flexible hours in all weather conditions to accommodate the seasonality of the industry

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in the industry
  • Familiar with and knowledgeable about the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000)
  • Must have a valid driver's license, and be able to obtain a commercial driver's license within 30 days of hire
  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or be willing to obtain one
  • Position may require some outside travel
  • During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, climb, kneel, lift (up to 75 lbs.) and walk for extended periods of time
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stress and multi-task
  • Exposure to all temperatures and weather; will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants, biting, or stinging insects, dust, etc.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and customers
