About the Role

aFit Staffing is seeking professional and reliable IN PERSON Multi-Language Interpreters to provide in-person interpretation services throughout Indiana. This position plays an essential role in ensuring meaningful communication between multi-language-speaking individuals and English-speaking healthcare providers, government agencies, and community organizations.

Interpreters will facilitate accurate communication while maintaining professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality in a variety of settings, including public health, healthcare, social services, and community outreach.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, complete, and unbiased interpretation between spoken Arabic, Burmese, French, Haitian, Hakha-Chin, Kinyarwanda, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya, and English (proficient in one language and English, not all).
  • Interpret conversations during healthcare appointments, public health visits, meetings, trainings, and community events.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional interpreter ethics.
  • Interpret faithfully without adding, omitting, or altering the intended meaning.
  • Remain neutral and professional during all assignments.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled appointments.
  • Travel to assigned locations throughout Indiana.
  • Communicate availability and scheduling updates with the staffing team.
  • Complete any required documentation following assignments.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work on-site in Indiana/Indianapolis, IN area.
  • Fluency in spoken either Arabic, Burmese, French, Haitian, Hakha-Chin, Kinyarwanda, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya and English (proficient in one language and English, not all).
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to facilitate culturally appropriate communication.
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Indiana.
  • Ability to pass any required background screenings.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience providing professional interpretation services.
  • Experience interpreting in healthcare, public health, government, education, legal, or community settings.
  • National certification through organizations such as CCHI, NBCMI, ATA, or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards.
