Overview

iDirect Government is dedicated to providing next generation solutions for broadband IP networking via satellite networks. The Accounting Manager (AR & Revenue) will serve as a key member of the accounting & finance team, contributing to accurate financial reporting, compliant revenue recognition, and efficient billing and collections processes. This role requires an individual with strong accounting expertise, an extensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to support operational and financial objectives.

The position is located in Herndon, VA with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

  • Manage the end-to-end revenue process, maintaining full compliance with ASC 606 requirements
  • Review contract terms to ensure alignment with revenue recognition requirements (including EAC) to ensure accuracy and resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Lead and maintain revenue forecasting, including regular updates, and collaboration with sales and operational teams
  • Oversee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year end close including account reconciliations, variance analyses and reporting
  • Play a key role in monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Oversee the full A/R cycle including billing, revenue recognition, collections, and cash application
  • Oversee monthly commissions process and recommend process improvements
  • Update and maintain monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reports including but not limited to backlog, inventory and cash forecast
  • Interact with external and internal auditors as well as external group tax accountants
  • Support sales‑related tax requirements by providing accurate financial data, coordinating with external tax advisors
  • Interact with parent company for intercompany transactions as well as for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements
  • Responsible for supporting and responding to all audit activity required to comply with Government Accounting (customers, and government agencies such as the Defense Contract Audit Agency) and coordinate corrective actions as necessary
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting process
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with other departments and management
  • Create, update and maintain processes and procedures as well as perform testing of controls where necessary
  • Identify ways of improving processes and procedures to achieve the goals of automation, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness
  • Interact with the FSO to ensure rules for Proxy compliance are followed
  • Other duties may be assigned in order for the accounting and finance department to achieve annual goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in accounting
  • 10+ years of experience working within the general ledger area and at least 3 years of prior supervisory experience. The experience must show growth within the accounting functional area through various roles
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR requirements within a government‑contracting environment
  • Experience working in a fast pace/high growth environment where they have shown an ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a given time.
  • Experience in manufacturing, technology, project-based accounting a plus
  • Oracle and Concur systems experience a plus
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Solution based problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact with employees and customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Detail oriented, adaptable to change and hands on
  • Self-starter, self-managed and flexible
