Description
Manages, operates and maintains an indoor natatorium and outdoor aquatic facility within budgetary limitations, and plans, promotes, develops, and supervises an aquatic program for all ages. Recommends, implements, and monitors aquatic policies and procedures, ensuring that appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained.
Examples of Duties
  • Supervises instructional swimming programs, special events, and other staff operating aquatic programs; monitors attendance and customer service levels.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and safety reviews of the Town's aquatics facilities and pools, ensuring compliance with state and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Supervises and trains aquatic personnel to administer pools and carry out swimming programs, special events, and other aquatic programs.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and controls the aquatic operating budget.
  • Coordinates marketing efforts, to include brochures, newsletters, and by providing information for updating the Town's website, etc., to promote programs and actively recruit participant.
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks necessary for successful operations of the aquatics program.
  • Coordinates aquatic facility hours of operation and schedules aquatic staff work hours.
  • Manages department onboarding and oversees timekeeping for aquatics employees.
  • Manages operations and maintenance of the Town's aquatics facilities; maintains standards of safety and sanitation in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines for public swimming pool operations. Conducts water tests and adds pool chemicals, as necessary.
  • Maintains and monitors the inventory, distribution, control, and requisitioning of aquatic equipment and supplies; purchases chemicals, first aid supplies, and pool supplies and equipment, as necessary.
  • Recommends, implements, and enforces policies and procedures for the effective operations of the aquatics program, such as establishing goals, objectives, and priorities.
  • Supports other areas within the Town's Community Activity Center by assisting with special events, recreational programs, facility rentals, and facility coverage issues in absence of assigned staff.
  • Serves as manager on duty in a rotating schedule, as needed, to include the opening and closing of designated facilities.
  • Acts as a liaison to community groups, agencies, and schools who utilize the aquatics facility.
  • Prepares and submits to supervisor and regulatory agencies, as required, reports regarding but not limited to attendance, sanitation, operations, rescues and assists, accidents.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of all work-related activities.
  • Adheres to Town and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist co-workers and other departments, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or related field is required.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Must possess Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or complete and pass CPO certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be currently certified in / as CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and Lifeguarding Instructor; or, must obtain these certifications within 120 days of hire date.
  • Must have valid Texas driver's license or be able to obtain a Texas driver's license within applicable state law and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.

  • Ability to sufficiently speak, see, hear, and read.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities, to include kneeling, bending, twisting, dragging, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. of various sports equipment.

  • Ability to work various hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
