Job Description:

About the Role

BlackBerry's IT team is looking for a hands-on IT Automation Developer to design, build, and maintain intelligent automations that streamline how we deliver IT services and support business operations. You'll work across Microsoft's low-code and pro-code ecosystem - Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions - to replace manual processes with smart, scalable workflows powered by AI.

This role sits at the intersection of IT operations and solution development. You don't need to be a traditional software developer - but you do need a builder's mindset, a passion for automation, and a desire to push into AI-assisted tooling and intelligent workflow design.

Who You Are

You might be a systems administrator, IT analyst, or technical support specialist who has started building automations, scripts, or tools to make your team's life easier. You've probably automated onboarding tasks, built PowerShell scripts to manage Active Directory, created approval flows, or configured integrations between IT platforms. You're curious about AI and low-code platforms, and you're ready to make automation and intelligent solutions your full-time focus.

You thrive on solving real business problems - not on theoretical research. You're comfortable learning new tools quickly, and you enjoy partnering with stakeholders to turn messy manual processes into clean, reliable, automated ones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain intelligent automations using Power Automate, Logic Apps, Copilot Studio, and Azure Functions to improve the speed, reliability, and user experience of IT and business processes.
  • Design and configure Copilot Studio agents and chatbots that provide intelligent self-service IT support to employees across the organization.
  • Create and manage integrations between Microsoft 365, Entra ID, ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira), and other enterprise systems using connectors, APIs, and Logic Apps.
  • Migrate legacy workflow and forms systems to modern cloud-based automation platforms within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Partner with IT service owners and business stakeholders - including Product Engineering, Customer Support, and Sales Operations - to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and deliver solutions.
  • Explore and implement AI capabilities such as Azure AI services, and Microsoft Copilot features to add intelligence to workflows (e.g., classification, extraction, natural language interfaces).
  • Ensure solution health and compliance by following security standards, identity management best practices, and organizational governance policies.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating business needs into actionable technical solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or technical support, with demonstrated progression into automation, scripting, or solution development.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more: Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, Logic Apps, or Azure Functions.
  • Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages to automate IT tasks and processes.
  • Working knowledge of identity and access management: Active Directory, Entra ID, OAuth, SAML, SSO, MFA, or PKI.
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes and platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar; general understanding of ITIL practices (certification is a plus).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills - comfortable working with IT professionals, senior management, auditors, vendors, and non-technical business users.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability with a knack for breaking down complex manual processes into clean, automated solutions.
  • Customer service orientation with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to advanced integration patterns: MCP, multi-agent orchestration, or event-driven architectures - or a strong willingness to learn them.
  • Experience administering or managing M365 tenants, Entra ID, or Azure subscriptions.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and webhook-based integrations.
  • Familiarity with Azure services (Azure Functions, Azure AI, Azure Service Bus, Key Vault).
  • Experience with AI-assisted productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate your work.

Education

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is an asset - but equivalent hands-on experience is equally valued. If you've spent years solving real IT problems and building automations, we want to hear from you.

Why This Role?

  • Build, don't just maintain. This is a maker role - you'll design and ship solutions that thousands of employees interact with every day.
  • Grow into AI and advanced automation. You'll work with cutting-edge Microsoft AI tooling (Copilot Studio, Azure AI) and have the opportunity to develop skills in areas like multi-agent orchestration and MCP.
  • High visibility, real impact. Your automations will directly improve how BlackBerry delivers IT services, supports customers, and operates at scale.
