Job description

Overview
It is the primary responsibility of the Apprentice Bartender to service guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. In addition, this position may assist with similar duties within the Hotel Division. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company's brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. - Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).
Responsibilities
  • Maintain uniform appearance according to established guidelines.
  • Know locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services available to guests.
  • Communicates professionally and courteously when interacting with guests and fellow co-workers.
  • Clean all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintaining equipment in good working order.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar.
  • Prepare order to replenish stock at bar to pre-determined par levels.
  • Stock the bar with supplies necessary for service.
  • Complete opening side duties including: check quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies through checklist; set up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail; check condition and cleanliness of shakers and other tools; check temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine.
  • Ensure the glass machine is in working order, chemicals filled and sanitizer at 50ppm.
  • Prepare Quat buckets for service areas changing Sanitizer every 4 hours and maintaining a 200ppm.
  • Ensure that all bar items and supplies on-hand are accounted for and secure throughout shift.
  • Re-fill ice coolers, garnish trays, straws and napkins.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment.
  • Turnover/Takeover station according to established procedures.
  • Work as a team, assist all guests' and employees' needs and inquiries.
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.
  • Assist bartender in drink preparation.
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome.
  • Anticipate the guests' needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Follow established procedures for comps.
  • Input orders correctly into the Aloha P.O.S. system.
  • Bid farewell to guests, using guest's name when known, and encourage them to return.
  • Handle money in accordance with Beverage Department policies and procedures.
  • Pick-up cash bank at the beginning of shift and return at the end of shift.
  • Responsible for balancing cash bank at the end of shift.
  • Handle money in accordance with Beverage Department policies and procedures.
  • Input orders correctly into the Aloha P.O.S. system.

  • Relay all guest compliments and complaints to the manager on duty.
  • Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division and department.

  • Performs all other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Bar Porter, Apprentice Bartender or Bartender.
  • Ability to mix and serve drinks following standard recipes.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a bar or similar environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and understand all policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and members of management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to complete standard forms and reports.
