Job purpose

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Journeyman Electrician to join our team. This role will perform hands-on trade work, ensure compliance with safety and building codes, and provide guidance to apprentices. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over a decade.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform skilled trade work in accordance with industry standards, codes, and company policies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics.
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches, to ensure proper operation.
  • Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot systems, fixtures or equipment relevant to the trade.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
  • Troubleshoot and repair control systems, lighting systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and installations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear protective gear, and use lockout/tagout protocols when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other trade, supervisors, team members and departments to complete projects on schedule.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee apprentices as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License in the State of FL.
  • Proven experience as a Journeyman in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in using electrical tools, meters, and testing devices.
