Position Summary
The Electrical Apprentice supports the installation,terminationand assembly of electrical systems, including conduit, cabling, equipment, panels,sensorsand control devices. This roleassistswith the construction and fabrication of control panels and systems, including the installation of interlocking wiring and participation in wiring verification and checkout activities to ensure proper functionality, under the direction of a certified Journeyperson.
Roles and Responsibilities
Install and terminate conduit, cable, electrical equipment, panels, sensors and controlcomponents in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Assist with the construction and fabrication of control panels and perform rough-in andfinishing wiring for control systems.
Install interlocking wiring and assist with wiring verification and checkout in accordancewith applicable codes and specifications.
Install electrical system components and wiring in compliance with applicable codes andstandards, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and where applicable, NEC, NESC,NFPA and UFC.
Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical controlcircuits for motors and control devices.
Support the preparation of material take-offs and identification of required electricalequipment and components.
Assist with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures in accordance withcompany safety policies.
Support the review of facility electrical system plans and specifications and identifyopportunities for improvements to operational performance and efficiency.
Assist with testing installed, repaired or modified equipment to verify proper operationand performance
Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and other basic maintenance activities as required.
Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation in accordancewith company procedures.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in electrical technologies, codes, compliancerequirements and repair techniques.
Monitor electrical parts and materials usage and report any shortages, discrepancies ormaterial issues to supervision.
Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
Support quality control checks and inspection readiness by ensuring work meetsdrawings, specifications and applicable standards.
Ensure assigned tasks and project work are completed accurately in alignment withrequired standards.
Perform assigned electrical tasks under the direction of a certified Journeyperson ordesignated supervisor in accordance with apprenticeship requirements.
Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire safety program standards and AlbertaOccupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.
Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities
Understanding of electrical fundamentals, including voltage, current, resistance and basiccircuitry.
Basic understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable standards.
Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment and adhering to safety protocols.
Awareness of electrical safety practices and hazard recognition.
Demonstrated commitment to completing technical training and progressing towardJourneyperson certification.
Exposure to electrical installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting activities.
Introductory ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and specifications.
Introductory knowledge of motor controls, sensors and control circuits.
Ability to safely use basic electrical hand tools, power tools and test instruments.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure production environmentwhile effectively managing multiple competing priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong workingrelationships.

Education and Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be registered as an Apprentice Electrician with Alberta Apprenticeship and IndustryTraining (AIT) and actively enrolled in an approved trade school program.
A minimum of 500 hours of electrical experience is required.
Previous work experience in an industrial, commercial or manufacturing environment ispreferred.
Working knowledge of electrical tools, materials and equipment used in manufacturingenvironments is an asset.
Experience with routine electrical maintenance operations is an asset.
Working Conditions
Required to work in a manufacturing environment that may involve exposure to noise,moving machinery, varying temperatures and other production-related hazards.
Required to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure tohazardous materials and excessive noise levels in the workplace.
Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
Must have the ability to stand for extended periods throughout each shift.
Manual dexterity is required to effectively operate tools and equipment.
Overtime may be available occasionally based on operational needs
