Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:ย The primary function of a Technician, is to perform general repairs on tractors. The Technician must possess the qualifications of a Technician 1. Also must be familiar with the following systems and able to make general repairs in each; suspension, drive line, electrical, lighting, computer, air/brake, fuel, HVAC, coolant and exhaust systems. Also, have a basic knowledge of a diesel engine, transmission and rear ends.

DESCRIPTION:ย A Tractor Technician must be able to hook-up and down load an ECU. Read/understand a basic troubleshooting tree and use a multi-meter. Be able to replace parts in all of the various systems of a tractor, service a wheel end, replace a wheel seal, perform brake stroke measurement, replace brake shoes, service the HVAC system, service the air/brake system and use a torque wrench.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

ย  This Position Will Include on the Job Training. Tech Will Gain Experience Into the Field of Advanced Diesel Mechanics

  • Minimum of 2 -3 Year Experience as a Diesel/Tractor Technician, Tech School or Apprenticeship Program
  • Understands Air Brake Systems
  • Understands Brake Stroke Measurements
  • Understands and Possesses Basic Diesel Computer Knowledge and Skills
  • Understands Basic Troubleshooting Tree Diagnostics
  • Understands Basic Wheel End Repair/Replacement Procedures
  • Understands Basic HVAC System
  • Understands a Basic Fuel System
  • Understands a Basic Exhaust System, EGR and SCR
  • Understands a Basic Coolant System Troubleshooting, Leak Testing, use of Refractometer
  • Understands a Basic Lighting/Electrical System
  • Understands How to Use a Multi-meter and a Dial Indicator
  • Understands Torque Specifications and How to Use a Torque Wrench
  • Able to Read and Write and Communicate Effectivelyย 
  • Understand basic Mathย 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Federal Brake Inspector Certification
  • Annual Federal Inspector Certificationย 

TOOL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full Set of Hand Tools Both Standard and Metric as Well as Basic Air Tools
  • Complete Roll Around Tool Box, Top and Bottom Sets
  • Torque Wrench
  • Multi-meter

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must Be Able To Stand Long Periods of Time and to Lift 85LBS
  • Must be Able to Squat, Kneel and Climb Up and Down Several Times a Dayย 
    • Must Have Current South Carolina Driver License and Good Driving Record.
    • ย Will be required to pass drug test, physical, agility test and a background screening.
