Amentum is seeking a Motor Pool Mechanic located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Mechanic will repair, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.

Job Requirements:

  • Remove, install, and replace parts; troubleshoot, repair, modify, and overhaul vehicles and equipment
  • Replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts
  • Grinding and adjusting valves
  • Rebuilding carburetors
  • Overhauling transmissions
  • Repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
  • Follow maintenance manuals, schematics, and technical drawings; ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • May involve lifting heavy parts, working in confined spaces, and operating in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and basic mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding of vehicle systems, safety protocols, and fleet operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of vehicles and mechanics
  • Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and stay productivve

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
