Job Overview
Locally-owned and operated Hiawatha Telephone Company is currently seeking the ideal candidate to join its successful team as a Splicing/Service Technician (SST). Splicing Service Technicians are responsible for providing top-notch customer service in all outside plant operations, including, but not limited to: Customer premises, fiber huts, and field operations. Primary functions include but are not limited to; construction and maintenance of our ever-growing fiber network, troubleshooting fiber optic issues, determining fault locations, and making necessary repairs to restore fiber services.
Job Roles & Duties
Job duties are varied and include several tasks related to installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and business telecommunication systems and internet operations. Interaction with co-workers and/or subscribers shall be performed with the highest level of service, respect, and customer care. SSTs work with subcontractors to coordinate response tasks to complete fiber construction projects, connect, troubleshoot, and test customer's wireless internet connection at the subscriber's premise while providing the best recommendations on where to place modems and other peripherals associated with an in-home or business internet connection and/or telephone connection. In addition, SSTs work closely with inter-department core teams to process orders, complete projects, and also fulfills tasks independently.
