Job description

Job Title: CNC Programming Machinist

Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining CNC programs using NX-CAM or similar software. You will work with multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) to ensure efficient production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and EDM.
  • Verify new CNC programs before releasing them to the shop floor using Vericut.
  • Provide CNC-related support to Manufacturing Engineers and conduct operator training during new or rebuilt machine startups and process improvements.
  • Offer daily operator support in CNC programming and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
  • Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machine tools.
  • Generate and support workstation instructions for CNC-related issues.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with team members as needed.
  • Work effectively both individually and within a team-based environment in a matrixed organization.
  • Embrace and drive positive change in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in NX and NX-CAM for CNC programming.
  • Experience in tooling and fixture design.
  • Strong skills in CNC programming and CAM programming.
  • Familiarity with FANUC Macro B for probing, tool selection, data capture, and hole location logic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or machinist apprentice graduate with 2+ years of experience in graphical-based CAM System CNC programming, or a high school degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with 3-2-1 (six-point) nesting and basic probing routines.
  • Working knowledge of CMM/metrology concepts.

Work Environment

The work environment is within a heavy-duty plant engineering setting, focusing on large systems for the power industry, including turbines for gas and wind power. Pay and Benefits
