Job description
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Tool & Die Maker Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in developing a skilled trade career in precision machining and toolmaking. Under the guidance of experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Makers, the apprentice will learn how to build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges used in manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and an interest in machining, manufacturing, and problem-solving.

Essential Functions:
- Assist Journeyman Tool & Die Makers with the construction, repair, and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses under supervision.
- Gain experience operating CNC equipment and learning basic machining and programming principles.
- Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges, to inspect parts and verify dimensions.
- Assist with troubleshooting tooling and die issues to support production efficiency and quality.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tooling, equipment, and work areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Participate in apprenticeship training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job learning opportunities.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in machining, manufacturing, or skilled trades.
- Ability to read measuring tools and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn manufacturing software and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn from experienced mentors.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a technical program related to Manufacturing, Machining, Tool & Die, CNC, or Industrial Technology.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, or basic machining equipment.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading or manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
