BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset. We deliver world-class service to all of our clients, from wealth advisors to family offices to endowments and foundations.

About this Role:

At BlackRock SMA Solutions we are obsessed with our clients: we put them front and central to everything we do. The focus of this role is to contribute to the BlackRock codebase, collaborate with users to identify their needs, and help them to be more efficient. Our platform is called Arya and is based on a microservices architecture with our web application as the interface with users. The web application is built using React and our microservices are written in Python. Therefore, you can expect a lot of Python and Typescript programming. We practice agile software development and work in two-week sprints. This role will work closely with all other members of our technology team as well as members of our project management team and end users. The role is perfectly suited for an aspiring true full stack developer that enjoys working on all parts of the tech stack.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully own feature development, from adding features to the front end of our web application to adding capabilities in microservices to adding structures in the relational database
  • Design and develop elements of the microservices ecosystem that provide functionality for equity portfolio construction tools for direct indexing
  • Support building and releasing software components and deploying them to a k8s cluster
  • Troubleshoot problems in a live environment and provide real-time help with critical issues
  • Provide continuous improvements to our enterprise fintech platform through modernization of current components and choice of contemporary technologies and enterprise third party components
  • Write code that is easily understood and maintainable by other team members
  • Keep up to date with developments in the technologies we use

Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of programming fundamentals-algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and paradigms
  • Web development experience, with strong understanding of front-end and back-end ecosystems
  • At least three to four years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience with modern object-oriented languages (Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, Swift, etc.)
  • Experience in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively, supporting various business departments
  • Ability to work in fast-paced interdisciplinary environment
For SF4-San Francisco - 400 Howard Street Only the salary range for this position is USD$132,500.00 - USD$162,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
