About this Role
At BlackRock SMA Solutions, we are client-obsessed and place user needs at the center of everything we build. This role contributes directly to the evolution of our Arya platform - a modern fintech solution supporting portfolio construction and management.
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will work across our React-based web application and Python microservices architecture, leveraging AI-assisted development tools and automation frameworks to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
You will operate in an agile environment with two-week sprints, collaborating closely with engineering, product, and end users to continuously enhance platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end feature development across front-end, back-end microservices, and data layers
  • Design and develop microservices powering investment portfolio construction and direct indexing solutions
  • Build, deploy, and maintain services within a Kubernetes-based cloud environment
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide support for high-availability systems
  • Continuously modernize platform components and adopt best-in-class technologies
  • Leverage AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to accelerate feature development, testing, and debugging while maintaining high engineering standards

Qualifications
Required
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, design patterns)
  • Full stack web development experience across modern web and backend ecosystems
  • At least 3 years of experience in a software engineering role
  • Experience in modern object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, Swift, etc.)
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment

Preferred
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Windsurf/Devin, Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) is a plus
  • Experience working in AWS or similar cloud environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$132,500.00 - USD$162,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
