Maintenance Mechanic - 3rd Shift - Harvey Main Plant $40.90/hr. + $1.00/hr. Shift Differential

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Maintenance Mechanic to be based out of Harvey, IL. This will be a 3rd shift job (11pm - 7am) Monday - Saturday. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this person will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing all plant electronic equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical malfunctions on any plant machine or related equipment.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Replace or repair defective parts, reassemble machine and start device to test for proper performance.
  • Lap and hone bearings.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and other moving parts of machines.
  • Use precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Measure, cut, and install pipe and tubing, do layout work, drill, and tap.
  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other plumbing equipment and open clogged drains.
  • Connect or disconnect electrical equipment as an incidental part of other repairs.
  • Perform construction and rigging activities as required.
  • Prepare for and assist in repair of zinc pots.
  • Perform work through Maintenance Work Order system recording work performed and material used.
  • Ability to work on ladders & scaffolds & in difficult work positions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints & sketches and makes own sketches.
  • Work with little or no supervision and assist in training Apprentices as assigned.
  • Operate lift truck as necessary.
  • Keep all assigned work areas clean.
  • Available to work overtime when needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Show progress and/or complete job specific training.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
  • Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $40.90/hr. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
