Job description

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking Apprentice Sheet Metal Fabricators to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.

We offer day, evening and weekend shifts with excellent premiums for evening and weekend day shifts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates.
  • Operate light metal working machines such as shears, brakes, and drill presses.
  • Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment.
  • Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, eaves-troughs, partition frames, air and heat ducts, material handling systems, roof decking and sheet metal buildings.
  • Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
  • Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Listen and receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
  • Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

  • Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or
  • Be a registered apprentice.
  • Motivated and willing to learn.
  • As a condition of employment, employees are required, upon hire, to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
