Financial Aid Counselor I

The Financial Aid Counselor I position will serve as an embedded representative directly supporting student-facing positions (inclusive of but not limited to Academic Advisors and Admissions Counselors). This position will field a high volume of internal contacts within a call center environment, in addition to engaging in direct contact with Regent University students as needed to resolve complex cases, escalated accounts, in support of new hire training experiences. The Financial Aid Counselor I serves as an expert in financial aid and payment plan options.

Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA (qualified candidates may be considered for remote work depending on location)

Essential duties:

  • Answer simple and complex financial aid questions accurately and efficiently. 
  • Maintain an expert level knowledge base on federal, state, institutional, and external award programs. 
  • Stay current on other programs and policies that are important to students, such as admissions protocol, financial aid, international admissions, military affairs, and student housing.
  • Provide extraordinary service to both internal and external customers within the organization. 
  • Successfully navigate internal organization structures in support of a 'one-stop-shop' student experience. 
  • Field a high volume of contacts relating to financial aid, payment plans, and account collections.
  • Coordinates and participates in financial aid events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate higher education experience required
