📍 Location: 32880 West 191st Street Edgerton, Kansas 66021
💲 Starting Pay:  $29.12/hour, additional $1.50 night shift differential available after training is completed for those who regularly work night shift.
🕐 Status: Full-Time | Immediate Hire

🕔 Schedule: Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

As a Railroad Switchman at ConGlobal, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of railcars within our terminal. You’ll be responsible for monitoring and aligning track switch points, inspecting track conditions, and safely coupling and uncoupling railcars. This hands-on role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.

  • Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify any issues affecting safe operation.

  • Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars as part of train assembly or disassembly.

  • Replace damaged or broken railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).

  • Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.

  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of rail experience desired
  • Switching or conductor experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices
  • Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
    • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
  • Open availability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in rail yard or switching operations.

  • Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.

  • Training in railcar or track maintenance is a plus.
