Job description

Job Description

This role supports the build-out and operation of modular subsea geothermal power systems by assisting with equipment handling, basic assembly, and on-site logistics. You will work hands-on in a lab and warehouse environment, helping to prepare, assemble, and move components that enable clean, baseload power generation from deep-ocean thermal resources.

Responsibilities

  • Move equipment and materials safely within the shop, lab, and warehouse areas.
  • Build and set up testing tents and temporary structures to support development and validation activities.
  • Assemble mechanical parts, including connecting hoses and related components, following instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Support plant logistics by organizing tools, parts, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform basic fabrication, assembly, and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Assist with packing, staging, and preparing equipment for deployment or shipment.
  • Operate or assist with operation of material handling equipment, such as forklifts and scissor lifts, when qualified and authorized.
  • Perform general labor tasks, including heavy lifting, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and orderly work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Adapt to rapidly changing priorities and support different teams as needed to meet project deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with production, general labor, or assembly line work in a shop, lab, or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to safely perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and willingness to learn to use power tools safely.
  • Basic computer skills for simple data entry, documentation, or communication.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow technical instructions for assembly and setup.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and work on different tasks as needed.
  • Reliable availability to work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift on a consistent basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating a forklift is preferred.
  • Experience operating a scissor lift is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
  • Comfort working with tools and equipment in both lab and garage-style settings.
  • Interest in clean energy, marine systems, or emerging technologies.
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork and deployment operations in the future is a plus.

Why Work Here?

You join a mission-driven organization working on a new category of clean energy with global impact. The role offers access to global fieldwork at deployment sites along oceanic ridges in locations such as the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, and the Azores. You gain hands-on experience through sea trials and deployment operations in partnership with leading oceanographic institutions, and work with cutting-edge technology spanning high-power electronics, marine systems, and clean energy. The organization offers competitive compensation with comprehensive salary and equity packages, along with vision, dental, and health insurance coverage. You also benefit from company-sponsored recreational dive certification, supporting both professional growth and unique experiential opportunities.

Work Environment

The work environment combines approximately half lab and half garage-style settings, spread across two warehouses. You work on-site during a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift, handling equipment, tools, and assemblies in a hands-on production environment. The role involves frequent movement, heavy lifting, and use of hand and power tools, as well as potential use of forklifts and scissor lifts when trained and authorized. You operate in a practical, hardware-focused setting where safety, organization, and teamwork are essential, and where you support both indoor lab activities and more industrial-style warehouse operations.
