Position Summary

The Director, Enterprise Strategy and Execution serves as a senior member of NRG’s Growth & Partnerships organization and acts as a key architect of the company’s future growth opportunities.


This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing new growth opportunities by combining deep internal business insights, customer needs, market intelligence, partnership opportunities, and financial analysis into actionable growth initiatives.


The role operates with full enterprise-level autonomy, scope, and cross-functional reach.


Required Qualifications

  • 8–15+ years of experience in growth, corporate development, strategic finance, venture building, investment analysis, consulting, energy innovation, product incubation, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience building business cases, financial models, growth initiatives, commercialization strategies, or investment recommendations.

  • Strong analytical, financial, and structured problem-solving capabilities.

  • Required experience in at least one of the following sectors: energy, utilities, power markets, distributed energy resources, demand response, energy technology, infrastructure, data centers, industrial energy management, or closely related industries.

  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical, regulatory, operational, and commercial environments.


Highly Desired Experience

  • Competitive wholesale power markets and generation economics.

  • Retail energy and customer acquisition models.

  • Data center and hyperscaler energy demand trends.

  • Utility partnerships and utility regulatory environments.

  • DER, demand response, flexibility, or virtual power plant markets.

  • Corporate development, venture investing, startup leadership, or commercialization of new products and services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of NRG Consumer, Business, and Wholesale operations, economics, assets, and strategic priorities.

  • Build trusted relationships across the enterprise to identify pain points, unmet customer needs, underutilized capabilities, and growth opportunities.

  • Gather and synthesize internal business intelligence, market trends, competitive activity, partner ecosystems, and customer insights.

  • Identify white-space opportunities and develop growth theses.

  • Build robust business cases, financial models, and pilot recommendations.

  • Create executive-ready materials for EMT and Board discussions.

  • Coordinate and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

  • Support pilot launches, partnership development, and transition of successful initiatives into operating business units.

The base salary range for this position is: $160,000 - $200000* *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
