CNC Machine OperatorJob Description

For over 20 years, Apparent Technologies has been a leading engineering and manufacturing company supporting the semiconductor industry. We are currently seeking Full-Time CNC Machine Operators to join our team at our Austin, TX facility.

We are hiring for both Second Shift (2:30 PM – 11:30 PM) and Third Shift (Friday to Sunday 7 am-7 pm) positions. Competitive hourly pay is based on experience and qualifications, along with the comprehensive benefits listed below.

Responsibilities (Included, but not limited to)
  • Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and other CNC equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate part production.
  • Machine Setup: Load raw materials, fixtures, tooling, and workholding devices while ensuring proper machine setup prior to production.
  • Program Execution: Load and execute CNC programs, verify machine operations, and make approved offsets or adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and maximize efficiency.
  • First Article & In-Process Inspection: Perform first-piece inspections and routine in-process measurements using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify finished parts meet customer specifications, identify nonconforming parts, and communicate quality concerns to supervisors or programming personnel.
  • Machine Monitoring: Continuously monitor machine performance, tool wear, coolant levels, and production output while making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform daily machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting to keep equipment operating efficiently.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with programmers, machinists, quality inspectors, engineering, and production leadership to improve processes and support on-time delivery.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or degree in Precision Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • CNC machine operation
    • Blueprint reading
    • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
    • Precision measuring equipment
    • Shop mathematics
    • Machine setup and tooling
    • Understanding of machining practices
    • Basic CNC programming knowledge
    • CAD/CAM experience preferred
    • Mastercam experience is a plus, but not required
  • Skills:
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills
