Role Description This full-time, on-site Heating Air Conditioning Technician role is based in Goshen, CT. The technician will install, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including oil- and gas-fired equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing system diagnostics, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. The role involves responding to service calls, completing accurate service documentation, following safety and environmental regulations, and communicating clearly with customers about work performed and recommended solutions. The technician will work closely with dispatch and other team members to manage schedules and support high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and HVAC troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently.
- Experience with plumbing related to heating systems, including piping, fittings, and basic hydronic components.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a variety of HVAC and heating equipment to extend system life and reduce downtime.
- Knowledge of electricity and electrical components in HVAC systems, including safe practices for wiring, controls, and testing.
- EPA certification for handling and recovering refrigerants, or eligibility and willingness to obtain the certification.
- Understanding of safety standards, building codes, and industry best practices related to heating and air conditioning work.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for traveling to customer locations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training, apprenticeship completion, or relevant technical certifications in HVAC are preferred.
- Ability to work on-site, lift and move equipment as needed, and perform tasks in various indoor and outdoor environments.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, respectful language.
