Location

The position is based in Lenexa, KS. Other locations may be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Develops high quality CAD designs and drawings for estimates and projects based on engineering information as well as experience
  • Coordinate with other estimating and design group team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design and development.
  • Checks design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.
  • Reports task progress to Estimate or Project Lead. 
  • Gathers required information and collaborate with engineers and multiple disciplines to develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures.
  • Leverages Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create plans, drawings, and details.
  • Aid in the development of department standards and tools.
  • Mentors other team members in design and modeling techniques.
  • Resolve design issues effectively with input from responsible engineer.
  • Relies on experience to develop preliminary concrete and steel models for estimating purposes
Qualifications
    • Completion of a vocational training program in Computer Aided Design and 10+ years of structural design experience using Tekla or Revit.
    • Demonstrates ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
    • Displays leadership and confidence to monitor peers, especially those with less experience in drafting and design.
    • Must have a basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and in written form.
    • Proficient in Navisworks software for design and review clash detection, and basic computing programs including Microsoft Office Suite. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • DOE and Commercial Nuclear experience preferred but not required.
    • Must be a US Citizen or US Permeant Resident.
    • Must be able to pass a background check.
    • Must be able to represent Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and any other contacts outside the Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. organization.
    • Seeks feedback and uses it effectively.

Base Compensation: $133,000/yr - $139,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
