We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.


Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate individual to join our manufacturing team. This individual will participate in several aspects of our composite part CNC trimming operation. Collaborating with CNC programmers & engineers, you will be contributing to the entire process of CNC operation. Hands-on experience and a “get it done" attitude are very important. This position is rewarding, as the team members will promptly see their work integrated into the production process due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation. 

As a Senior JD Router Ops Machinist, you will not onlybe responsible forexecuting complex trimming operations with precision but will also train and mentor other technicians. Your extensive knowledge and experience in router operations will be invaluable in guiding and supporting the professional development of your colleagues.Joby Aviation is dedicated to training and developing individuals with potential, and we are looking for apprentices who are eager to learn and grow within our company. 

Shift Schedules below: 

1st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM 
2nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM 
3rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PM 


  • Set up and operate 5 axis CNC Routers to cut large-scale, complex composite aircraft parts ranging from 4in to 40ft in size. 
  • Provide feedback upstream on setup, machining strategy, order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed parameters, etc. 
  • Provide feedback on how to maintain and improve part quality 
  • Assist team with developing best practices for the machining process focused on increased efficiency and productivity 
  • Organize and manage multiple responsibilities with a high degree of efficiency 
  • Establish and continuously improve a well organized and safe environment for all workspaces 
  • Do a variety of supporting tasks that are needed to get the job done 

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent 
  • 3+ years of machining experience or relevant coursework and demonstrated abilities to develop process, train team members, and high-level problem-solving skills.  
  • Experience with cutting tools for mills: flat, ball, & multi-fluted, end mills, drills.  
  • 3+ yrs experience in a shop environment, preferably wood, plastic, & or metal machining 
  • Experience with hand tools, ie. Drills, reamers, tap/die, files, precision pins, etc 
  • Ability to handle complex assignments and work independently with a high level of initiative to resolve issues.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environments 
  • Demonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes.  
  • Able to use computers at an intermediate level 
  • Lifting of 50 lbs. or less aided or unaided throughout the day.
  • Must wear PPE when required. 
  • Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materialsandableto become certified to wear a respirator. 
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.
