Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all of AWS' global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support AWS data centers globally including all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
The Global Network Delivery organization in AWS Infrastructure seeks a Sr. PM to support a global data center quality team. In this role you will drive best-in-class cabling quality in global data centers to help us achieve the best operating, lowest cost, infrastructure in the world. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing global mechanisms and changes to drive the right quality outcomes.
You will partner with a team of quality engineers across AMER, EMEA, and APAC whose responsibility is to see that all build, scaling, bricks, project cables, racks, and hardware installations are completed adhering to the correct guidelines. You will support this team by determining what mechanisms need to be established to reduce the defects we find in the field. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to align on the mechanism, determine the best approach to implement and sustain the mechanism, and develop a global standard operating procedure. Mechanisms should improve audits around new build milestones, allow senior leadership to weigh in during Gemba walks, and ensure quality is addressed in design reviews prior to construction of new data centers. You will ensure that the mechanism you implement is scalable, measurable, and addresses country-level nuances. You will align across multiple leadership levels and address stakeholder feedback. You will provide regular business review and program updates to senior leadership.
The ideal candidate possesses strong program and project management skills, experience managing complex and large-scale technology projects (including cost, schedule and performance for portfolios, programs, or individual projects), a proven track record of developing and/or improving processes and procedures, demonstrated excellence working with matrixed teams and influencing without authority, and ability to earn trust and deliver results quickly. Successful candidates are highly responsive and communicate effectively with technical teams to collect requirements and translate those to internal stakeholders to deliver results at scale. You must possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. You adeptly manage multiple competing projects simultaneously.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead global data center cabling quality business reviews, and change management
• Develop and standardize global operating procedures that are scalable and measurable across different countries
• Create and improve quality audit processes for new builds, including milestone checks and design reviews
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and provide regular program updates to senior leadership
• Drive best-in-class quality outcomes to achieve optimal operating efficiency and cost-effectiveness in infrastructure
• Travel 20-30% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Knowledge of general AI tools
- Experience designing, implementing, and scaling upskilling, apprenticeship, or workforce development programs across large-scale operations or corporate environments, including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions
