Job Title

Technical Engineer Apprenticeship Program - Military Pathways - Stafford, TX

What does a successful Technical Engineer Apprentice do at Fiserv?

Whether you're transitioning from active duty or continuing to serve in the National Guard or Reserve, our Military Pathways Technical Engineer Apprenticeship Program provides an opportunity to apply the discipline, technical aptitude, and mission-focused mindset you've developed through military service to a rewarding civilian career.

Technical Engineers play a critical role in keeping Fiserv's 24/7 production operations running. Our teams maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the sophisticated equipment responsible for producing and delivering critical financial communications and payment solutions for clients across the country.

Through hands-on training, mentorship, and career development opportunities, you'll build the skills needed to diagnose, repair, maintain, and improve complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and automated production systems, including equipment components, assemblies, and production tooling.

We're looking for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy understanding how things work. Successful candidates may have experience working on vehicles, generators, aircraft, communications equipment, production machinery, automation systems, electronics, HVAC systems, or other technical equipment.

What you will do:

  • Learn to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve complex production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to maximize reliability and minimize downtime in a 24/7 production operation.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs using troubleshooting techniques, diagnostic tools, technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Disassemble, repair, modify, fabricate, and replace mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, fixtures, and tooling to support equipment performance and reliability.
  • Partner with experienced Technical Engineers to develop expertise across multiple production technologies and maintenance disciplines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, equipment reliability, and operational performance.

What you will need to have:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent military experience.
  • Recently separated from military service or actively serving in the National Guard or Reserve.
  • Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude through military experience, civilian work, education, certifications, hands-on hobbies, or personal projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a desire to learn.
  • Experience using computers, hand tools, and basic power tools.
  • Willingness to pursue additional training, certifications, or education as part of career development.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting vehicles, machinery, production equipment, automation systems, electronics, communications systems, generators, or other technical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, or blueprints.
  • Military, educational, or professional experience related to maintenance, engineering, electronics, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, automation, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools, interpreting blueprints or technical drawings, or supporting equipment builds, fabrication, or assembly projects.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical operations where equipment reliability and uptime are essential.

Work Environment

Our production facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supporting clients across the country. Opportunities may be available across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, with the majority of openings supporting 2nd and 3rd shift operations.

  • This role requires the ability to stand for a majority of the shift; safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; lift above your shoulders; and climb, squat, kneel, twist, push, and bend frequently during each shift.
