Job description

Overall Responsibilities

Plans, installs and repairs insulation systems for mechanical piping, duct work and equipment for commercial and industrial applications.

Essential Duties

  1. Plans new or modified installation of insulation systems for mechanical piping, duct work and equipment in order to meet project specifications, avoid waste, provide access for future maintenance, and to comply with local codes.
  2. Follows diagrams, blueprints, and sketches showing location of piping, duct work and equipment to be insulated and jacketed (if specified).
  3. Fabricates and installs a variety of insulation materials for mechanical piping, duct work and equipment utilizing the tools of the trade, consistent with industry standards.
  4. Fabricates and installs jacketing, elbows and removable covers, from a variety of materials for mechanical piping, duct work and equipment utilizing tools of the trade consistent with industry standards.
  5. Identifies, repairs and replaces faulty mechanical insulation systems.

Education/Experience/Licensure

  1. Acceptance into the Local apprenticeship program will require a GED or higher.
  2. Minimum of 6 years experience
