Job description

Job Summary:

Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in (Elko, NV).

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

  • Active daily participation in safety processes
  • Thorough documentation of repairs including recording unit information and detailed repair/troubleshooting steps as necessary
  • Working nonstandard shifts occasionally in support of business needs(nights/weekends)
  • Timely submission of service documentation.
  • Working rotating shift schedules in support of mining customer
  • Frequent communication with customers and supervisors when working remotely
  • Independent management/reconciliation of compony issues credit cards
  • Proactive scheduling of PTO/time off
  • Flexibility in short notice scheduling changes including out-of-down assignments
  • Attention to clean work habits at the end of shift and throughout the shift
  • Complying with federal DOT laws while operating company vehicles - including ELD devices
  • Professionally communicating/representing Cummins to the customer
  • Complying with management directives as needed in support of business operations.

DOT
-A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older


-A current valid license is required for this role
-This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-3 years driving experience
-This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
Locally valid driving permit.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Locally valid driving permit.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
