Job description

Job Summary

The Service Technician Apprentice - HVAC supports experienced technicians with the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of commercial and residential HVAC systems. This role involves assisting with disassembly and reassembly of equipment for troubleshooting and routine service, as well as diagnosing system performance. Apprentices will operate hand and power tools, gauges, and measuring devices while gaining hands-on technical skills. Additional responsibilities include participating in on-call rotations, purchasing materials, maintaining tools and vehicles, and complying with all company safety and driving policies.


Essential Duties
  • Collaborate with service technicians to disassemble and reassemble a wide range of commercial and residential HVAC equipment for troubleshooting and planned maintenance purposes.
  • Assists in diagnosing HVAC equipment performance through observation, testing, and setup as required by position.
  • Proficiently operates hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Engage in on-call/stand-by rotations as per business unit policies and procedures, ensuring prompt response and compliance.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.
  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, follows requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Maintains equipment, vehicle, and tools.

Minimum Requirements
  • Entry-level candidates with a passion for HVAC systems are encouraged to apply.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field is preferred. Craft training is preferred.
  • Maintains required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.
  • HVAC Maintenance Skills:
    • Filter change out
    • Belt change out
    • Coil cleaning and DST
  • Proficient in utilizing app-based technologies for efficient workflow.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Demonstrate strong business ethics at all times.
  • Present professional appearance.
