Job description

General Job Description: 

In collaboration with other Field General Foreperson(s)/Foreperson(s) and under the supervision of the Area Superintendent, this position will be primarily responsible for the oversight of the operations and personnel management of Foreperson, Truck Foreperson, Journeypersons, and Apprentices within the hydronic trades of the assigned area or Project. Also have direct contact with our fabrication facilities. 

Market Experience

Extensive market experience and technical knowledge in Medical Gas and Specialty Plumbing systems. Proven experience on large commercial, healthcare, institutional, pharmaceutical, and high-tech construction projects, including:


Healthcare facilities and hospitals
Surgical centers and medical office buildings
Laboratories and research facilities
Pharmaceutical and biotech facilities
Data Centers
High-rise buildings
Schools and universities
Hotels and resorts
Mixed-use developments
Industrial and manufacturing facilities
Institutional facilities (universities, airports, government buildings)

Experience managing medical gas and plumbing scopes ranging from $5M-$100M+, with the ability to lead field crews of 5-100 plumbers, medical gas installers, pipefitters, and subcontractors.

Strong understanding of mission-critical and complex project environments including hospitals, healthcare campuses, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, Central Utility Plants, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing projects, with direct experience supporting fabrication operations, shop production teams, and prefabrication programs while ensuring quality, productivity, safety, infection control compliance, and schedule performance across all phases of fabrication and field installation.

Supervises:

Forepersons, Truck Forepersons, Journeypersons, Apprentices 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all hydronic field activities to ensure standards and productivity are met in an effort to achieve company goals
  • Operations
    • Assist direct reports with
      • Resource management
      • Proper assignment of Forepersons
      • Assist with project execution strategies and scheduling
      • Help to provide resolution of issues, challenges and obstacles
      • Execution of QA/QC protocols
      • Implementation of Safety Department's protocols
      • Implementation of Acco policies and procedures
      • Provide suggestions for successful project installation
      • Provide counseling to field employees
    • Participation in project kick-off, mid-job and wrap-up meetings
    • Review project plans, specs, schedules and discuss any issues/concerns with PM/PE
    • Generate example RFI's for PM/PE submission
    • Communicate project expectation and required dates with detailers
    • Review project documents to determine the proper staffing requirements
    • Approach project with shop fabrication and modularization in mind 
    • In collaboration with detailing and PM/PE generate a material list for an initial buyout from purchasing 
    • Attend jobsite meetings and provide input to the GC and PM
    • Set goals and expectations for field personnel and detailers. Drive the job!
    • Know the local code requirements
    • Evaluation of field personnel 
    • Review and track project labor budgets
    • Complete and submit ACCO and project documents
    • Order tools and equipment required to complete the project
    • Schedule manpower with Superintendents
    • Schedule material deliveries and shop fabrication 
    • Verify equipment prior to delivery/rig day
    • Schedule crane rig
    • Schedule trucking
    • Coordinate with subcontractors
    • Coordinate with other departments within ACCO
    • Schedule and coordinate inspections
    • Process required test reports and logs with required signatures and put into proper box folder for the project
    • Train crew members 
    • Ensure a quality product has been installed
    • Generate a rolling punch list
    • Return tools and equipment 
    • Return excess materials back to the vendor for a credit
    • Read and understand the Local Union Master Labor Agreement 
    • Manage 3 week or look ahead schedule for project

Hours:

This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours will generally start and end in accordance with construction industry standards and/or project needs, with a one-hour lunch break and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary for business needs 

Physical Demands:

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods to evaluate active field installations.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or navigate job site terrain

Wages: 

This position is for signatory employees and wages will be aligned with the current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
