Option 1: Completion of 2 or more years of college.Option 2: 1 year's retail experience and 1 year's supervisory experience. Option 3: 2 years' general work experience, including 1 year's optical experience.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon job entry or within 12 months of hire in order to sit for American Board of Opticianry (ABO) exam.
Meet the requirements to work as an Optical associate (for example, minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the optical organization and/or by State Boards of Opticianry, as applicable).
Must obtain ABO certification within 15 months.
In licensed/registration states, must obtain state-required optician licensure within 18 months of hire or initial movement into Sam's Optical, or within the timeframe required to complete state-mandated training hours plus an additional 3 months to obtain licensure, whichever is longer.
