Job description

Textile Designer and Technologist

The Opportunity:

Apply materials science and engineering principles to develop, process, and test materials to create solutions that meet specific technical and performance criteria, utilizing a systems engineering approach and engineering tools, including DE and physical to optimize material selection and improve manufacturing processes. Apply specific functional knowledge and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and may review or guide activities of junior employees.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with pattern making, grading, and construction across a variety of product types, such as apparel, soft goods, and individual equipment
  • Experience implementing design for manufacturability practices in direct collaboration with textile manufacturers and cut-and-sew facilities
  • Experience translating client requirements to textile products
  • Knowledge of factory equipment, garment cutting, sewing, and Quality Assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Cloud Illustrator or Photoshop tools
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems for managing product design and development
  • Ability to think strategically and make decisions grounded in technical depth
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including various forms of engineers
  • Experience designing and manufacturing textile components for military products
  • Experience with knit garment design and development processes, including stitch mapping and yarn specification, and automated equipment
  • Experience in 3D design tools such as Browzwear or CLO
  • Experience with new and evolving manufacturing processes and automation in soft goods production
  • Knowledge of government specifications such as P/Ds, MIL-DTLs, and MIL-PRFs
  • Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
