About the Role:
We are seeking a garage mechanic to help with maintaining and repairing our nursery vehicles. The garage mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them with the result aiming for maximum reliability and functionality.
What You'll Do................

1. Repair gasoline powered equipment examples: leaf blowers, pick-ups, vans, medium sized trucks, tractors, and Monrovia vehicle fleet.
2. Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
3. Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to ensure vehicle functionality, longevity, and safety.
4. Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
5. Maintain logs on work and issues to submit to vehicle record software.
6. Test repaired equipment for proper operation by test drive or operation of unit before returning to operators.
7. Maintain equipment and tools in good condition. 8. Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.
Compensation Highlights:
  • Overtime eligible — extended hours beyond 48 hours within the work week will be eligible for overtime.
Who You Are.................................
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, engines, brakes, drivetrain, fuel systems, suspension / steering, hydraulics, and air systems.
  • Ability to read manuals and technical documents is necessary.
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using auto mechanic tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to take initiative with minimal direction and be flexible regarding the immediate needs of the department.
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Open to feedback.
  • Punctual and highly organized.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record if required in your state to test drive equipment.
Education and Experience:
  • Proven experience as auto mechanic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Valid certification (e.g., ASE) is preferred.
