Patriot Engineering and Environmental is seeking a Driller Assistant in our Indianapolis market. Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, Patriot Engineering and Environmental is an employee owned, diverse engineering firm with a multi-state location (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio) and presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services and consultation to commercial, industrial and governmental clients. Career Opportunity
This position will be based out of Central Indiana region. This position will require a candidate who is a self-starter and is able to have high attention to detail while maintaining flexibility in the focus on daily execution of duties and deliverables.
The successful candidate will assist and support the Driller in all aspects of the drilling operation. This position has the ability to become a Driller after solid performance and company paid training.
Driller Assistant Essential Functions:
  • Assists driller in all aspects of the drilling operation.
  • Loading and unloading for drilling projects
  • Preparing boring logs and sample jars prior to job.
  • Filling sample jars in the field.
  • Completing boring logs in the field and collecting samples from the soil sampler.
  • Driving the support vehicle to job sites.
  • Assist driller during drilling operation with setting up drill rig, carrying augers and hooking them up to the drill rig and drill stem, cleaning split-spoon samplers between sample intervals, shoveling auger cuttings during drilling operation, and backfilling borings at the end of the drilling operation.
  • Work to independently inspect and complete routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in Military, construction, manual labor is a plus.
  • Valid driver license and ability to pass drug and background screen.
  • Strong work ethic and attendance record
  • Good listener with desire to learn.
  • Good communicator with follow through and attention to detail.
