Duties and Responsibilities:

Diesel Mechanics collaborates with other repair team members to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently according to the operatorโ€™s needs. They often have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Consulting with department heads, and colleges and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required.
  • Preparing work orders after fully scoping out the issues.
  • Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions.
  • Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, transmissions, brakes, and exhausts.
  • Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts.
  • Conducting field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
  • Driving tests our repaired vehicles to gauge their performance, and document results.
  • Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
  • Maintaining a log of records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
