The Role


As our Heavy Equipment Apprentice Mechanic, you can expect to be engaged in the day-to-day operations. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical aspects of equipment and components according to defined specifications. COME JOIN OUR TEAM!

Responsibilities


  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet

  • Carrying out diagnostic tests and repairs to a variety of vehicles and equipment using modern maintenance practices

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairs of construction equipment

  • Ensures all Workplace Safety

  • Environmental and National Safety Code Policies and Regulations
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain various other large construction equipment according to the maintenance schedule
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with a machine to identify fault codes
  • Maintain accurate records of all service, repair, and other work as required

A day in the life

  • Assist with equipment inspections, safety talks and helping ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Assist with job preparation and set up.
  • Work with other mechanics and other various equipment on site.
  • Work with other mechanics to do regular maintenance and repairs.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed 2yr. Heavy Equipment Techniques program
  • Ability to work outdoors in difficult conditions caused by snow, dust, temperature changes, and weather
  • Ability to use workplace technology
  • Capacity to perform physical work
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have Valid Driver's License & Reliable Transportation
