Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Rooter & Septic Apprentice to join our growing team serving Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer, and septic services while learning directly from experienced technicians in the field.

The apprentice will assist with drain clearing, septic service, sewer line diagnostics, excavation support, equipment operation, and customer service while developing the skills needed to advance into a Rooter Technician or Septic Service Technician role. Local market postings show active demand for helper/apprentice roles in Winston-Salem and surrounding Triad markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist technicians with drain cleaning, root removal, stoppages, backups, and sewer line calls
  • Support septic tank pumping, maintenance, inspections, and field service work
  • Learn to operate drain machines, jetters, sewer cameras, pumps, and service tools
  • Assist with digging, excavation support, locating lids, and jobsite setup/cleanup
  • Load/unload materials, hoses, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain trucks, equipment, and inventory organization
  • Communicate professionally with customers on-site
  • Follow all safety procedures including confined space, traffic, PPE, and sanitation protocols
  • Participate in ride-along training and hands-on skill development
Qualifications
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn skilled trade work
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Ability to work early mornings, rotating on-call, or overtime as needed
