Primary Purpose of Position
The Commercial Plumbing Apprentice will provide support to the Commercial Service operations. Under general supervision of a licensed plumber, the Commercial Plumbing Apprentice will assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems while gaining familiarity with tools, materials, and job site procedures. This role participates in a formal apprenticeship training program designed to prepare individuals to become licensed journeyman plumbers through a combination of on-the-job training, rotational field assignments, and related classroom instruction.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and compliance training.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial plumbing systems.
  • Support pipe fitting, fixture installation, and system testing under the guidance of licensed plumbers.
  • Assist with water heater, booster pump, and circulation system service as part of training and development.
  • Accurately document work orders, parts usage, and service activities using company systems.
  • Order parts and participate in online and classroom training.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Support job-site cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
  • Work safely and professionally with plumbing tools, equipment, and materials.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active State Plumbing Apprenticeship License
  • Eligibility to meet Company driving standards, including possession of a valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Willing and available to work overtime when required
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and gas piping
  • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, diagrams, and work orders
  • Possess basic math, measurement, and computer skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Gas Fitter Trainee or Apprentice License
  • Graduate of an accredited vocational or trade school or a 1 year of related field experience
  • Hands-on experience with commercial plumbing systems, drain cleaning, or jetting equipment
