As Electric Boat continues to support construction of the VIRGINIA Class and COLUMBIA submarine programs, our Quality Organization plays a critical role in ensuring every component meets the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.
Level II UT Shear Wave Inspectors will be required to perform UT volumetric inspection duties in the various areas throughout the facility.
Candidates will be required to be trained in the Quality Assurance systems, procedures, policies, and specifications and will perform ultrasonic inspection on welds, parts, components in various areas including on the hull sections. This will include structural and piping. Types of inspections may also include visual, dimensional and other nondestructive test attributes. Inspectors will also be required to verify and certify work is complete and satisfactory according to specifications and record and report inspection results.
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
The successful candidate must be able to work all shifts, weekends and overtime as required.
Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current or previous certification (within last 2 years) as Level II UT Shear Wave.
  • Ability to grind joints and clear indications as needed throughout inspection process.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of War.

Preferred:
  • Education in Vocational, Technical, Community College, or Apprentice programs.
  • 1+ years of previous shipyard or similar manufacturing experience.Knowledge of shipboard assemblies,
  • installations and foundations.
  • Prior Military/Navy experience.
  • Previous NDT schooling/training.
  • Previous NDT Methods MT, PT, ET.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, diagrams and understand basic layout functions.
