As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues.

Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service. As an Installation Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer), you'll work with cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and support some of the world's most advanced technology companies. Travel & Adventure Travel Requirement: Up to 75% This role offers extensive travel to customer sites across assigned regions. If you enjoy exploring new locations, working in dynamic environments, meeting new people, and solving technical challenges firsthand, this role provides a unique opportunity to do all of that while accelerating your professional growth. What You'll Do Install, configure, and support Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.

Learn to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-related issues with support from experienced engineers. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Work alongside senior engineers during equipment installations, upgrades, and customer projects.

Build strong relationships with customers by providing professional technical support and service. Document service activities and communicate project updates to customers and internal teams. Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.

Continuously develop your technical knowledge through hands-on experience, training programs, and mentorship. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an Associate degree or Bachelors Degree Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, or digital multimeters Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to read and follow technical documentation and procedures.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport for business travel. Ability to meet customer site safety and environmental requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Internship, co-op, research, or project experience involving mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, or manufacturing systems.

Exposure to semiconductor, manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, or similar technical environments. Experience gained through internships, laboratory work, engineering projects, , co-op programs, or other hands-on technical experiences. Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, team projects, athletics, military service, or community involvement.

Physical Requirements: This role may require: Standing and walking for extended periods Working in confined spaces and cleanroom environments Climbing ladders and working at heights Lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds Using hand and power tools Distinguishing between colors for equipment and wiring identification Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including coveralls, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and face shields Working around electrical systems and moderate industrial noise Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 75% of the Time Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
