Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
 We are seeking a candidate available to teach College Algebra in a face-to-face setting. Current available courses require face-to-face daytime or evening availability at the Dowagiac and/or Niles campuses. We do not offer online courses at this time. 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field with substantial undergraduate coursework in mathematics.
  • A minimum of two years of college-level mathematics teaching experience, or five or more years of high school mathematics teaching experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
  • Bachelor's candidates who are currently seeking a Master's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and evidence of effective teaching practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach effectively using a variety of instructional methods
  • Be accessible to students
  • Grade assignments and respond to student inquiries
  • Provide timely feedback to students' questions and concerns
  • Use Moodle (our LMS platform) regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades
  • Proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email
  • Familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines and policies of the College
  • Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment
  • Work comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students
