About the Team
DoorDash's ability to build the best products in the industry, enabling local commerce at global scale, depends on its ability to recruit, engage, grow, and retain the best talent in the industry. The People Applications team at DoorDash is responsible for building and scaling first-party (1P) products that support the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment through to offboarding. The team develops and operates People Applications used across all DoorDash brands, including Wolt and Deliveroo.
About the Role
The DoorDash People Applications team is seeking an Engineering Manager with experience building and scaling applications across talent acquisition, compensation, and employee experience domains.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of our People platform as we accelerate the adoption of AI and evolve our 1P products to drive greater efficiency, innovation, and employee experience.
This is a highly collaborative role where you will help shape both the technical direction and product strategy, ensuring our solutions align with DoorDash's people team's goals while delivering reliable, high-impact experiences for employees across all brands.
This will be a hybrid role and you will report to the Senior Manager, Enterprise App Engineering.

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of full stack engineers across multiple DoorDash locations including in US and Hungary
  • Drive Technical Vision: Partner with the team to define architectural roadmap for the team.
  • Deliver Impactful Features: Oversee development of core People Application product experiences, including data pipelines, automation and integration with AI tools/LLMs.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Work closely with product managers, UI/UX designer, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into impactful, user-first solutions.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish best practices in development processes, testing, release management, and monitoring.
  • Embrace AI: Passion for leveraging AI and automation to improve developer velocity and business outcomes
We're excited about you because you have...
  • BS, or MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams of 5+ engineers
  • 7+ years of industry experience in software development, ideally in HR-related applications
  • Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization including leveraging AI to improve velocity
  • Experience with Generative AI development and fine-tuning such as setting up prompt flows, agents, guardrails, and knowledge base optimization.
  • Hands-on leadership, strong business acumen and strong product intuition
  • Deep technical background with NodeJs/TypeScript, React, Python, containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Willingness to learn - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with remote team members across time zones

Compensation
The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee's work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
