The Product Manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding annual sales and profit goals for the assigned product group. This role manages key product activities, including strategic growth, product development, training, sales and application support, product and cost documentation, and stocking coordination. The Product Manager also serves as the primary liaison between customers, sales, and manufacturing to ensure the division delivers competitive, timely products that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Growth
  • Identify new product opportunities and partner with engineering to bring solutions to market.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that strengthen the product line and support long-term growth.
  • Create detailed plans to drive product line growth.
  • Develop market analyses, application information, and SWOT evaluations for assigned products.

Sales, Customer, and Application Support
  • Support customers by addressing technical, supply-related, and application questions.
  • Recommend product solutions that best meet customer requirements.
  • Provide direction and support to Application Engineering and Field Sales.
  • Lead distributor, sales, and customer training initiatives.

Product Management and Operations
  • Manage safety stock and quick-delivery programs to maintain competitive lead times and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Maintain product information, generate reports, and provide analysis to sales and production teams.
  • Manage customer quotations, pricing strategies, and price list preparation.

Marketing and Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Develop and update product literature and new-product promotional materials.
  • Prepare and present product presentations, reports, and plans.
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, quality, production, and engineering to execute growth initiatives.

Additional Expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel 30%-40% of the time, approximately one week per month.
  • Work onsite in Schaumburg, IL.

Requirements
To be considered for the Product Manager role, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of related industry experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required; engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience with fluid power or hydraulics preferred.
  • Fluid Power Specialist certification preferred.

Salary is commensurate with experience, with a range of $115,000-$125,000. HYDAC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid holidays; PTO; 401(k) with company match; FSA; short-term disability; life insurance; and pet insurance.
