Job description

Mail and Package Handler

Candidates who receive an offer will be required to successfully complete a background check and drug test as a condition of employment.

Location: Arden Hills, MN (onsite) Duration: 3 months contract Mon – Fri (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) Responsibilities-
  • Sorting and staging letters and boxes on a dock.
  • Checking in packages with a provided scanning device using a provided app.
  • Moving packages via small carts and flat beds carts.
  • Delivering to mailstops across campus using maps.
  • Picking up outgoing packages form mailstops and staging to outgoing teams in the distribution center.
  • Looking up tracking numbers on a provided computer.
  • Responding to customer emails with when packages were delivered.
  • Posting letter mail via USPS postage machine.
  • Sorting letter mail.
  • Preparing and labeling outgoing FedEx packages.
  • Moving packages intercampus on request.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Someone who is flexible, able to be a part of a team, takes direction well, once trained able to self-start and stay on task throughout the day.
  • Able to follow a general schedule but open to deviation if emergencies arrive (Bad weather, truck delays, construction work on site etc.).
  • Able to read and understand campus maps.
  • Basic Microsoft Office suite use.
  • Respond professionally to customer emails.
  • Yes, standing and walking.
  • Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, anything over 50 pounds with help.
  • Pushing and pulling small carts and flat bed carts with packages on them.
  • PARKING IS FREE - multiple lots and entrances.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications) Typically Required:
  • Requires high school diploma, GED and 1 –2 years of experience or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Some related copy job experience is preferred.
  • May require valid driver's license and minimum levels of auto insurance coverage per Ricoh policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good PC skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Mathematical and filing skills.
  • Ability to use office machines and technical equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
  • Work assignments are diversified.
  • Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction – prepare, provide and convey diversified information.
  • Some physical effort is required which may involve long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing or similar activities as well as lifting or moving items weighing up to 50-55 lbs. and in pushing or pulling machines on wheels, which may weigh up to 700 lbs., in order to move for repairs.
  • Walking between buildings may be necessary.
  • Moderate dexterity – regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
