About R2 Technologies: R2 Technologies is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. With over two decades of experience across global markets, we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for IT staffing excellence and cutting-edge digital product innovation. We are driven by innovation and operate on a simple philosophy: "We deliver what we promise, and we promise only what we can deliver." Job Summary: R2 Technologies is seeking an Application Modernization Engineer to do the heavy lifting of translating outdated software into modular, scalable, cloud-native solutions. You will be at the intersection of old and new, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to ingest legacy frameworks and translate them into modern microservices. You will validate the AI's translation, resolve architectural edge cases, and deploy the modernized applications to secure cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities: * Utilize advanced LLMs and AI transition tools to translate legacy applications (e.g., older .NET, Struts, or legacy Java) into modern, containerized microservices (Spring Boot, .NET Core).
  • Re-architect monolithic front-ends into responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) using modern React or Angular, accelerated by AI code generation.
  • Containerize modernized applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments via Kubernetes on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Build modern RESTful or GraphQL APIs to expose formerly locked-down legacy business logic to new AI and web applications.
  • Continuously pair-program with AI tools (Cursor, Copilot) to accelerate the translation process while strictly verifying performance and security.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure modernized applications connect seamlessly to new cloud data warehouses and vector databases.

Qualifications: * Up to 3 years of experience in full-stack software development or application modernization.
  • Experience transitioning monolithic applications to microservices or serverless architectures.
  • High proficiency in utilizing AI coding tools to accelerate framework migrations and code translation.
  • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern cloud deployment practices.
  • Proficiency in Java, C#, or Python, alongside modern front-end frameworks (React/Angular).
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex integration issues between legacy and modern systems.
