Merit Ontario is committed to building Ontario's skilled trades workforce. We support construction employers through innovative workforce development solutions, including our Group Sponsor Apprenticeship Program, e-learning, and customized training. Working with small, medium, and large construction employers across the province, we help develop skilled talent, support apprentice success, and strengthen Ontario's construction industry.
We are looking to hire a 309A Licensed Electrician, for one of our member companies that services Chesterville, ON.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and electrical code specifications
  • Splicing and connecting wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
  • Testing and troubleshooting circuits to ensure that systems operate safely
  • Pulling wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors
  • Communicating effectively as a member of a team with supervisors and other skilled tradespeople
  • Working on a variety of different projects and tasks
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
  • Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
  • Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
  • Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
  • Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systems!
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • Ability to problem solve on the spot.
  • Perform lighting maintenance.
  • Generator repair and maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code
  • Must be willing to teach and train an electrical apprentice.
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, resourceful and dependable
  • Working at Heights
  • Physically able to lift 50lbs throughout the day
  • Work well with others
  • Min of ‘G’ license with clean driver’s abstract
