Job description

The Swiss Application Engineer will be expected to review customer parts and drawings, select equipment, and develop the cutting tool package as well as specify collets, guide bushings, tooling, holders and coolant flow.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Managing turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer related projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget
• Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations and development of turnkey proposals
• Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports and proposals, interpreting plans and specifications
• Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, turning centers, Swiss style and/ or multi-tasking machines
• Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company
Education/Certification:
• Associates degree in a related technical field plus two years of experience in a machine tool related field, or five to seven years' experience in a related position.
• Bachelors degree in related field is preferred
Skills:
• 2-5 years of work experience on the operation and setup of Swiss cnc machine tools.
• Must be personable and customer/sales oriented.
• Must have an open mind and attitude to listen then reassure and ultimately help a customer.
• Must have a strong communication/ verbal skills including ability to make and write a clear and concise reports with recommended action plan.
• Must be capable to think through a problem and then resolve independently.
• Must be mechanically inclined/ hands on type individual that enjoys working on machinery/ equipment.
• Willing to travel and to keep a flexible schedule, also be adaptable as projects/ priorities change.
• Experience with CAD/CAM and EIA/ISO (G-code) programming skills (Ex: Mastercam, Esprit, Fusion 360, PartMaker).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically strong in Excel.
• Knowledge of metal cutting tooling and material grades.
• Will require practical part processing knowledge and Swiss machine tool experience.
