Application Engineer

Location: Kalamazoo, MI, 49001

Required Skills and AbilitiesEducation, Training, and/or Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business, Science, or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years sales execution or application engineering experience is expected
Specific Skills
  • Strong customer skills including excellent written and verbal communication; emphasis and strength in summarization and action clarity are critical
  • Highly motivated with strong initiative
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge
  • Ability to work in a high volume and fast paced work environment
Responsibilities
  • Learn and understand product portfolios, markets and applications
  • Collect technical data and objectives from customers via phone, email or web meetings
  • Use independent judgement to quote select products that meet specifications and evaluate alternatives
  • Build strong relationships with both new and existing customers through efficient and courteous written and verbal communication
  • Timely respond to leads with high quality responses
  • Accurately enter information (i.e. part numbers, correct margin and pricing, Market, Customer Type, Territory, etc) and follow up when necessary
  • Responsible for updating systems as needed, i.e. CRM, quote system, SCO, PDM
  • Act as internal logistics expert and problem solver in support of sales and customer needs
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers in managing leads and/or growing territories
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Participates in weekly meetings as required for order/quote management
